One year in: Yolt’s CEO on the first twelve months and new horizons


It’s hard to believe a whole year has already come and gone since we launched Yolt in the UK. It’s been twelve brilliant months of learning, development and growth. That growth has come hand-in-hand with our community, who’ve been with us since before the beginning: When there were just a few of us working behind the scenes, reaching out to a handful of beta testers to find out if our idea was even any good!

Realising the Yolt vision

Fortunately, our very first version of Yolt was met with positive feedback, and even more ideas to implement. Those early days helped us build a solid foundation, not only for the product itself, but for the kind of company we wanted to be – community-oriented, innovative, and fast-moving. As for our quick pace, we think some of the year’s milestones speak for themselves. From reaching our first 250,000 users to completing the very first Open Banking API integrations (more on that here), we couldn’t be happier with what we’ve achieved over the past twelve months.

Since launch, our company vision has grown and developed quickly, too. Community, innovation, and agility, are still at the forefront of everything we do, but we’ve added a few more goals to the Yolt mission.

A money app for everyone

For one, we want Yolt to be the only money app you need, from better budgeting and spending insights to quick and seamless payments to deal finding across a carefully curated list of trusted providers. Over the next year, we’re looking forward to delivering that vision, guided by our users’ top wishes and suggestions. Keep an eye on our social channels for lots of opportunities to join in the conversation -- you can find Instagram and Twitter polls, feature-focused surveys, and news on upcoming meet-ups with the Yolt team!

Not only do we want to be the only money app you need –we also want to be the most accessible money app on the market. Money confidence shouldn’t be limited to accountants or financial advisors – it’s for everyone. That’s why we want to empower each and every person with his or her money, not only in the UK, but in Europe and beyond.

New horizons…

It’s on that note that I’m very excited to share: Yolt is officially moving to two new markets! In the coming months, we look forward to launching in Italy and then France. As we did in the UK, we’ll be kicking things off with a beta version first, working with a closed community of beta testers before going live in the App and Google Play stores.
